Still think 2025 has no big movies to offer?

The recently released trailers for five upcoming films have instantly maxed out the hype. From Hollywood action stars to Nordic suspense, it’s all lined up.
Jason Statham and Scarlett Johansson teaming up for a prison break in Escape from Alcatraz alone promises to be worth the ticket price. And that’s not even mentioning the bone-crunching action in the Kazakh film Steppenwolf, whose intensity could fuel buzz for half a year.

Escape from Alcatraz is already a safe bet based on the cast alone.

Statham has proven in recent years (like in The Meg franchise) that he can deliver both action chops and acting depth. Johansson, returning to a hardcore role after her shift into producing, looks brilliantly fierce.
Prison-break plots can easily feel cliché, but reports say the crew built practical sets on the actual Alcatraz site. That cliff-diving scene in the trailer? Pure practical effects.

The only worry is if the dramatic scenes hold up, especially since the backstories of the two leads haven’t been fully revealed yet.
Plus, this film is reportedly the final chapter in the Mission: Impossible franchise, making it truly momentous.

That vibe of “old soldiers never die, they just fade away”? You won’t find it on Tom Cruise. He’s more like “the veteran is still sprinting full speed, and good luck catching up, youngsters.”
Add in an AI antagonist, extreme stunts mixed with technological suspense, and the adrenaline overload this movie promises is like taking a knife to your fight-or-flight response and giving it a furious stir.
